Rebecca Peterson-Fisher
Partner

Rebecca Peterson-Fisher is a Partner with The Liu Law Firm. Ms. Peterson-Fisher is an experienced civil rights attorney. She has litigated individual cases and multi-million dollar class actions involving a range of legal issues, including employment discrimination, discrimination in educational institutions, constitutional rights, and wage and hour violations. She has successfully represented a wide range of clients against small and large corporations and public entities. Ms. Peterson-Fisher was named in 2020 to the Lawdragon 500 Leading Plaintiff Employment Lawyers guide, a national list created through nominations and independent journalistic research and vetted by peers and adversaries.  She was recognized by Super Lawyers magazine as a Southern California Rising Star in 2015 and 2016, as a Northern California Rising Star in 2018 and 2019, and as a Northern California Super Lawyer in 2020. Ms. Peterson-Fisher currently serves as the Chair of the Alameda County Bar Association Labor & Employment Section Executive Committee.  

Prior to joining The Liu Law Firm, Ms. Peterson-Fisher was an associate with Traber & Voorhees, a prominent Los Angeles civil rights law firm.  At Traber & Voorhees, Ms. Peterson-Fisher litigated complex class actions on behalf of employees and high-profile individual civil rights cases. Ms. Peterson-Fisher was also a senior staff attorney with Equal Rights Advocates, where she litigated sex discrimination cases and led the organization’s Strong Girls initiative to advance the rights of women and girls in schools, frequently commenting on Title IX-related issues in local and national news media. At Equal Rights Advocates, Ms. Peterson-Fisher played a key role in developing an innovative, victim-centered sexual harassment policy that was adopted by the Oakland Unified School District in June of 2017. In 2017, Ms. Peterson-Fisher was the recipient of the Alliance for Girls "Girls' Champion" award for her work on the Oakland Unified School District sexual harassment policy.  She now serves on the Alliance for Girls Board of Directors.  


Ms. Peterson-Fisher received her B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and graduated cum laude from New York University School of Law in 2007.  At NYU, she was selected as the Tom Stoddard LGBT Rights Fellow of the Arthur Garfield Hays Civil Liberties Program. Upon graduation, she was awarded the Arthur T. Vanderbilt Medal for her contributions to the law school. Ms. Peterson-Fisher then served as a clerk to Hon. Michael H. Dolinger, a United States Magistrate Judge in the Southern District of New York, and began practicing law as a trial attorney with the Brooklyn Family Defense Project (now Brooklyn Defender Services). 

​Ms. Peterson-Fisher is admitted to practice in the state of California, the Central and Northern Districts of California, and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
